FAQ's About PE Equipment

How do you take care of PE equipment?

To take care of PE equipment you’ll want to make sure that you clean pieces of equipment regularly, ensure they are appropriately stored when not used, only use the equipment for it’s intended purpose and ensure you rotate the use of equipment to maximise their lifespan.

Cleaning:

you’ll want to wipe down equipment with a damp cloth to remove dirt, sweat and other residues. For equipment like balls, mats or gym apparatus, disinfection may be required.

Proper storage:

Ensure that you store equipment in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight. UV rays can degrade certain materials over time. You’ll also want to make sure that you organise equipment neatly, using racks for weights and bins for smaller items. You’ll want to avoid storing equipment under heavier objects and equipment to prevent deforming and damaging equipment.

Using equipment for its intended purpose:

You should try and avoid using equipment for activities that it has not been designed for. For example, using a basketball as a tennis ball.

Rotating equipment:

To maximise the longevity of your PE equipment, you’ll want to rotate their use regularly.
